This experience was about finally having the opportunity to fulfill a long-standing desire to learn photography as well as learn to use my DSLR camera (and not in the basic, automatic mode). No longer do I shoot and “hope” for a good picture, but I have learned the fundamental concepts of developing a quality composition as well as how to control the settings on my camera to produce the desired image. The techniques were learned in the course Fundamentals of Photography Design for non-DAAP majors and the principles were then applied to develop a project that documented my experience in Cincinnati. As an engineer, I am most accustomed to communicating information via text and numbers; however, my goal for this project was specifically to tell my undergraduate story using only pictures.
Photography is a skill that can translate into a lifelong hobby. The techniques and principles I have learned through this experience will help me capture countless life experiences and memories that I will then have documentation of for the rest of my life, as well as to share with my family and friends. It provides an outlet for creativity, for relaxation, for seeing the beauty in the world we live in and often take for granted.

The slideshow below is my Cincinnati documentary photobook. It is my hopes that from these images you can gain some insight to what my experiences while at UC involved!
